7 Things to Do in Falls Church – September 2018 Edition

With back-to-school routines underway, it’s easy to forget all the fun Falls Church City has to offer this month. Take a break from the returning traffic and supply shopping and check out some of these events.

September 7 / Sunset Cinema screening of CoCo / Cherry Hill Park

Start the fall off right with a night under the stars for the 15th annual Sunset Cinema series. Family-approved movies will be projected all month (and into October) at 7:45 pm. The first is animated film CoCo. Be sure to bring blankets for seating.

September 14 / Alan Naylor / Creative Cauldron

Musical performer Alan Naylor returns to the Creative Cauldron for his show titled “Spring and Love, Loss and Dreams.” Along with collaborator Barbara Wilkinson, Naylor’s mournful piano playing and singing explore the drama of loving a poet.

September 15 / Falls Church Festival / Cherry Hill Park

The annual Falls Church Festival is back again, featuring hits such as the Beer Garden and Louis the Magician. Read more here.

September 16 / Clarefest benefitting ProjectHERA / Clare and Don’s

Clarefest, the “female-fueled” music festival, is back this year at Clare and Don’s. Rock out to celebrate the coming of fall while supporting women and girls in music. The event is presented by ProjectHERA. Music begins at noon.

September 21 / Sunset Cinema screening of Wonder / Cherry Hill Park

For a heartwarming story about accepting others’ differences, head to Cherry Hill Park for the next installment of the Sunset Cinema movie series. Candy, popcorn, and drinks are available for audiences while soaking up the 24’ by 24’ movie screen.

September 23 / Town Hall meeting to discuss West Falls Church & George Mason HS / Community Center

Join this town hall meeting to hear updates on the proposed West Falls Church economic development project and the building of the new George Mason High School, with construction set to begin in 2019.

September 28 / Sunset Cinema screening of Despicable Me 3 / Cherry Hill Park

For the final Sunset Cinema film of the month, Gru and his minions take the screen. Temperatures may be cool, so bring an extra blanket.
