August 2018: 6 Things to Do in Falls Church

The Little City has no shortage of music and entertainment for August. If you’re wondering how to spend the last couple of weeks of the month, check out our round-up of local events for live music, libations, and more.

August 19 and 23, 2018 / Brook Yoder / Clare and Don’s Beach Shack

D.C. native Brook Yoder brings his acoustic covers to Clare and Don’s for two nights in August, beginning at 5:30 and 6pm, respectively. Yoder’s set list contains crowd-pleasing favorites that range from classic rock to Irish Pub songs.

August 24, 2018 / Electric Lady / Creative Cauldron

Recent Towson University graduate Ines Nassara puts her vocals on display for her performance as the Electric Lady. A well-known actress in the D.C. area, Nassara’s set of powerful ballads will be sure to cause sparks. Show begins at 8 pm.

August 24, 2018 / Son Flavor / Clare and Don’s Beach Shack

Get your dancing shoes on for a night of Latin music with Son Flavor. The show begins at 6:30 pm, so grab a margarita and one of Clare and Don’s Cantina Favorites, like the Baja Shrimp Tacos, and prepare to enjoy the sounds of Latin America.

August 25, 2018 / A Mixtape for Heroines / Creative Cauldron

Musician Catherine Purcell presents her first solo performance in this cabaret show. Her songs pay tribute to Purcell’s personal fictional heroines, whose stories are told through compositions of folk, rock, jazz, and musical theater. Show begins at 8 pm.

August 26, 2018 / Iron Jawed Angels screening / Clare and Don’s Beach Shack

Blue NoVA hosts a special screening of Iron Jawed Angels to celebrate Women’s Equality Day at Clare and Don’s. The film begins at 3 pm and is followed by a chat with Virginia Delegate Marcus Simon. Donations will support the Turning Point Suffrage Memorial.

August 28, 2018 / Leftover Salmon / The State Theater

Rock out to the Americana influences of Colorado band Leftover Salmon, whose sounds push the boundaries of bluegrass to encompass genres from Cajun music to rock. Doors open at 7 pm, with openers The Southern Belles.
