Temperatures are climbing into the mid to high 90s, so there’s never been a better time to spend some time indoors with a cold beer.
In early June, Aleworks had its ribbon cutting ceremony that marked its official availability to the public— though it was already open for a couple of months prior. Here guests can unwind and play a board game or two while enjoying a flight of fresh draft beer.
Audacious Aleworks is co-owned by Brian Reinoehl and Mike Frizzell, two former IT professionals who were inspired by a great experience at Bad Wolf Brewery in Manassas. Their keen eye for what makes a good business prompted them to kickstart Audacious Aleworks after a year of experimenting with their own brews at home. Both have learned by imitation, as have most successful entrepreneurs. Having visited over 100 breweries, they saw what worked and what didn’t and applied the best practices to their new business.
The microbrewery has plans to be active in the community. For example, there are plans to host live music to promote local musicians. It has also been designed to be a low-key place for locals to gather.
Fully dedicated to their product, Audacious Aleworks only serves beer. But if you’re hungry, don’t worry— food trucks come on-site or you can order food to be delivered to you. There’s also free popcorn so you can enjoy your beer without the consequences of starting the festivities on an empty stomach.
All the brews are done in-house and appeals to every palate. Fans of lighter beers will love the smoothness of the Lucid Dream Cream Ale (which a recent Yelp Review said was ” nicely executed”) or the touch of sweetness in the Honey Kiss Blonde Ale. Of course, there’s an evolving list of darker beers like stouts, porters, and brown ales. Fans of IPAs will get their hops fix with unique brews like the Conviction IPA, which contains the essence of pine and grapefruit aromas and taste. As with all great breweries, there will also be special brews on rotation like the Raspberry Wheatley Hefeweizen or the Belgian Saison.
A Yelp Reviewer named Tom from Falls Church describes the brewery: “Audacious Aleworks is located in a fairly sparse strip mall in Falls Church, but their beer selection is outstanding and brewed on site. I’m partial to the “Thirsty Work” IPA, but they seem to have something for everyone! This is an excellent tie-in to the State Theater shows a couple of blocks away!”
Other reviewers laud the brewery’s comfortable atmosphere (including excellent AC in the hot Virginia summer) and its always-exciting rotating variety of brews.
Audacious Aleworks is closed on Monday and Tuesday, but is open for the rest of the week at select hours.
Both owners plan to expand the business and do more soft openings as new features get added to their business. Stay tuned for how this microbrewery is going to grow!
